Commitment to Net Zero
Callmonitor Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in line with the UK government's climate targets. This plan sits alongside our Sustainability Policy, which sets out our wider environmental and social commitments and the dates against which we expect to be held.
Our Current Emissions
We are a small business. We employ four people at a single leased office at 207 Regent Street, London, we operate only in the UK, and we run no company vehicles. We are a supplier and service provider, not a manufacturer, and we operate no manufacturing facilities.
Our principal sources of emissions are the electricity used at our office, limited business travel, and the operation of IT and communications equipment. We describe our impacts honestly rather than claiming more than our size allows.
Renewable Electricity
We have purchased 100% renewable electricity since April 2006, when we switched to Good Energy two decades before it became common practice in our sector. We have maintained a renewable supply through every change of supplier since, moving to Ecotricity and currently to Octopus Energy. We regard this as a baseline expectation rather than an achievement, and treat it as non-negotiable at every contract renewal.
Reuse and Equipment Lifecycle
A significant part of our business is the rental and leasing of satellite equipment rather than outright sale. Equipment returns to us at the end of each hire, is refurbished, and is re-issued to successive customers. Extending the working life of each unit is the single largest contribution we make to reducing the environmental cost of our sector.
Substantially all returned rental equipment is refurbished and re-issued rather than disposed of. Units leave our stock only where they have been damaged beyond economic repair, or are no longer supported by the network operator. We will formally measure the proportion of returned rental units returned to service, publish that figure from 2027, and hold it above 95%.
Actions We Are Taking
- Measuring our electricity consumption monthly, with 2026 established as our baseline year for consumption reduction.
- Reducing electricity consumption per employee by 15% against the 2026 baseline by 2030.
- Prioritising remote and virtual meetings to minimise business travel where possible.
- Selecting energy-efficient IT equipment and ensuring responsible disposal of end-of-life hardware through licensed carriers and approved treatment facilities.
- Removing single-use plastic from our outbound packaging by 31 December 2027, and using recycled or certified cardboard for all outbound shipments.
- Reusing inbound packaging for outbound dispatch wherever the condition of the material allows.
- Operating paperless billing and documentation as standard.
- Working with suppliers and partners who share our commitment to environmental responsibility.
Future Targets
This plan is reviewed annually alongside our Sustainability Policy. Progress against each target is assessed at review and the plan is updated to reflect what was achieved and what was not.
